Hero, rebel, visionary, struggling to find himself in the vastness of the cosmos. The planets follow their ellipses, strange space oddities. Bowie threw fragments of himself into space playing, conjuring with them like so many odd balls. Ziggy Stardust, Halloween Jack always ahead of the predicted trajectory. Britain – America cultural schizophrenic, the star who doubted stardom, who wore the red and blue lightning bolt, visual sign of the verbal game- Aladdin Sayne, ‘a lad insane’. A man who fell to earth, but after whose death the stars in the night sky look very different.
Sarah Das Gupta is a retired English teacher from Cambridge, UK, who taught in India and Tanzania. She started writing last year after an accident which has limited her walking to using crutches. Her work has been published in over 150 magazines and anthologies from many different countries. She has Best of the Net and Dwarf nominations 2023.
