If a barn door is open all day, the heifers might wander away and find greener grass than that old sassafras has to offer for rides in the hay. If a barn door is open at night, a filly might find her delight with two-legged stallions who’ll share their medallions whenever they get an invite, but if you try to lock up a mare, you’re likely to get a fierce stare, so make sure you’re the sort who knows how to resort to the love and care which keeps her there.
