“Nostalgia is like stars hidden in the night sky."

            -Thompson Emate

Memories are a huge delight,
It chauffeurs a tranquil aura,
The present troubles are kept at bay,
Fond memories pierce through the gloom.

I recall those days when I didn’t have to tunnel through the dark,
Searching for light in unknown places,
The phantom wasn't knocking at my door,
Monsters were not staring through my window.

My childhood years were sunshine days,
I wasn't cocooned by the night,
I didn’t see the dead leaves that fell off the tree,
I was in a rollercoaster spree

Sometimes I want to be lost in the meadow of yesterday,
But I am drawn by the hands of today,
I'm brought to the table of mystery and puzzle,
I look into a mirror that doesn't reveal all.

This me I see in the past,
Was an unperturbed lad,
Buoyed by his dad,
Held in hand by his mum.

All the keepsakes that convey me to the past,
I still hold and treasure,
Today has sculpted a deeper me,
It has aided me to see the world in its true light.
