Odd remembrances haunt my lazy, bored brain.  Almost drowning when very young.  Do I really remember it, or do I picture it as it was described to me? My older sister says that it did happen. The now great-grandmother and widow that I made out with sixty years ago.  A small clothing store that I walked past in Portland fifty-plus years ago.  I have no idea why that local Mode O’Day store, all these years defunct has had an effect on me. I never went in it; I only wandered by it in the 1960s. The traumatized beauty that abruptly rejected me while we were in college.
Rather than live in the moment, I live in the moments of a painful past or a fearful future.
