The hazy sun descends below the trees
Its last light reflected on the brown satin
Of the song sparrow’s ruffled feathers
The fog over the valley is different tonight
It’s thick with the anticipation of January flurries
And heavy with the remembrance of 
Orange monarchs on the cherry’s white flowers
September twenty-second, autumn at last
