A sort of star-jump
into a cascade the same shape as autumn leaves:
the impermanent essence of life,
but seen twice

in which we see the reversing shot
back to his original pose:
 
In more detail,
a capitulation off one foot,
the other leg extended straight—
the man in a business suit, its flaps
billowing magnificently in the wind?—
 
Was this a last-gasp attempt
at life's hurrah? a repeat of a noble suicide attempt?
his slick acumen at the start
of this act, this ill-mannered performance,

suggests a man of hazarded guesses
and professional expressions relating
to company performance and value;

and yet here we are,
plummetting so playfully
like a broadening smile, into
a ravenous, delicious hole, opening-up,
 
of leaves...and then the crash.
