I stop at the ancient bluff at Blue Pool
A hundred feet high, the limestone cracked
and caved and graffitied
And I think—
 
First People camped on the precipice
thousands of years ago
in 1142 Mississippian hunters
from the City of the Sun stalked bears
and the cultures chanted to the gods—
