Was there a time when each new friendship
would last forever
and every love was the love of your life?
The girl you picked berries with,
The shy boy whose kiss made you dreamy for days?
 
Perhaps it’s true; maybe that moist kiss
is in your heart for keeps.
like sun on our faces
and blackberry stains
on our hands.
