In the many moments of awakening and revelation I’ve experienced in my life, there has been a magical quality to them. Swaddled in the safe sanctum of my own meditation and healing work, I’ve learned to face my resistance, my perceived limitations, my emotional wilderness, breathe, and choose to surrender into what is Essential and Eternal. From there, my inner eyes and senses have opened to things I never thought possible.
Even if, at the moment, it was grueling, the spiritual Lightness of Being in those moments was unmistakable.
But there was this one time when my moment of surrender and awakening didn’t happen in this spiritual way. It was one summer afternoon after a tense and loaded family brunch.
