I receive emails that I try to answer right away. Sometimes, I might miss a few, but it’s not intentional.
So, why this note? Sometimes, some will hammer me or demand to know why they don’t see their submission in the schedule. While I understand the excitement, what I want others to know is that the scheduling process, editing, revision, and image creation is a manual process.
After I receive a submission, I review it and email stating a yes or no. Then, I add it to the log to publish. After, I manually create all the images for each submission and double-schedule it. Once here on substack and one on the Written Tales site to appear. Substack does not have a publishing calendar. This means there’s no way to sync between the two sites.
What many may not know is that written Tales is run by one person and one person alone: me. It may seem at times I am multiple people, but it is just me. I don’t get paid the time it takes to support all the amazing authors. But I do it because I believe in freedom of speech and literature as an art. I do not censor, as you all have seen. I publish work that is well-written, regardless of the viewpoint. Hence, the mix of content you see.
With that said, I just needed to get this off my chest.
I again want to thank everyone with a grateful heart for being part of this magazine. You are all amazing!
I am sure I speak for many when I say that I am perfectly happy with everything you have done for me at Written Tales. You have given me a platform where I can land and have my work seen and appreciated. Your magazine has provided the niche I was looking for. So, thank you for all of that. Have a wonderful Saturday evening yourself.
Thank you so much for the kind words. They mean a ton, and that is exactly what I wanted to create in the literature world. I place where people can be seen and heard without an agenda behind it. Thank you for submitting all your poems and stories. They are excellent.
Good reminder. I am just so amazed at everything you are able to do as a one-person business! Sorry to hear that people who don't understand how things go or are impatient have given you problems. Please don't stress over it! I appreciate all that you do! Keep up the good work.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for your professionalism and kindness Kevin . I know how hard you work. Please know that you are very much appreciated by many people, myself included. Thank you!
Kevin, I was happy when I typed my name in the browser and saw some of my work come up and a great description about me there. ☺️ I knew it was you that put all that on there…… and for that I am extremely grateful!
Thank you and you are more than welcome. I try hard to get authors work seen everywhere across many social channels. Thank you again for being part of Written Tales!
What Thomas Harrison Humphreys says and this: You're doing a great job, Kevin, and Witten Tales Magazine features beautiful work. I too thank you. I hope next time you're developing the schedule you schedule in some R&R for yourself. What you do is hard work, especially when it is so very well done, and consistently so!
Thank for your kind words. I do my best as I know how hard it is for writers to get their work seen. This was born out of the need as I am also a writer & poet.. I know the games played and wanted something different for the literary world that would showcase works regarldess of ideology. For me it's all about the writing. Thank you again!
