You show no skin,
but the bare minimum of a smile,
in sepia photos of memory.
 
You're no bird,
belly-heavy,
but a fallen feather.
 
No wind whispers
your whereabouts.
 
Like a frightened tortoise,
you've retreated into your shell.
 
For decades,
I've been in love
with only your ghost.
