I sit, eyes closed. Last year’s Keyettes tapping the shoulders of the new members.  I hear the shuffling of the Keyette shoes. The air in the classroom brushes against my cheeks. The shuffling continues up and down our aisles. I wait, no tap. I breathe, no tap. Later I will learn that Mrs. Goldfarb has denied me the Keyette honor.  Something about my reputation.
